“Tattooed rock musicians, exploitation flicks, ’90s animation – what’s next, commercials?

You’ll have to forgive Turner Classic Movies junkies who fear for their beloved haven of uncut, uninterrupted, vintage Hollywood treasures. They saw what happened to AMC, cable’s original home of classic movies. That onetime studio-era archive started getting hip, airing newer titles and finally adding commercials, transitioning to what many buffs dismissed as just another flick-showing channel.” {Source Newsday}

Recently I wrote a little piece on how TCM is thinking of featuring new “idols” in order to attract the younger crowd to the joys of black and white movies. As a classic movie buff this news sent red flags…I thought “oh no it will turn into AMC!”

TCM says we need not worry, that is not their intention…woohoo! Read the article here

  1. Yea TCM is not dumb, they’e going in the right driection. Aklthough when you told that satanic hard rockcer Rob Zombie was on there I was like, huh? But any channel that has Rob Zombie and Robert Osborne is bound to be entertaining.

    that being said, TCM has to do this I feel, becasue if they don’t they lose the younger crowd. The younger crownd needs to realize that contamporary movies, for the most part, is trash. Of course this is when they are compared to movies like Citizen Kane, Key Largo, Mad Mad World, Casablanca, and Cool Hand Luke. TCM is fine, altough AMC is no better than TBS at 2:00 in the morning.

    I’m still waiting for TCM to air those trashy rock ‘n’ roll exploitation movies from the 50′s, which are classic in their own way.
