TCM is letting celebrities pick movies this month. Stars like Alfred Molina, Whoopi Goldberg, Jerry Stiller, Martha Stewart, and more get to choose 3 movies and share it with us. You will be a little surprised at some of their picks. It kinda doesn’t go… like Matt Groening creator of the Simpsons, picks an interesting mix, including Way Out West (Laurel & Hardy) I can see this one, but somehow I can’t see I Was A Fugitive From A Chain Gang, this one should’ve been picked by Martha Stewart. But hey maybe many will be surprised at my picks. If I was a guest at TCM and I had to pick three, I’d pick, “Double Indemnity,” “Ace in the Hole,” and “The Bigamist.” Notice how they are all film noir-ish? And believe me I am no “femme fatal,” but I love these films just the same. If you were a guest on TCM what would you pick?

  1. Argh, picking only 3 favorites seems almost impossible for me! Your choice of Ace in the Hole is a good one. I saw that for the first time this past summer – that whole carnival in the desert theme just sucks you into the story.

  2. Thanks Carrie, Ace In The Hole is a timeless movie. Media frenzy will always be with us. The more sensational the story, the better. In fact, the media have been known to create stories just for ratings or to push their political views, in the past and today…Dan Rather comes to mind. In this movie the reporter came to his senses, a day late, and a penny short. At least he came to his senses.

  3. I’ve tried this game before and I always end up with three different movies. Right now as I sit I would choose, “Tokyo Story”, “Lost Horizon”, and “Horse Feathers”

  4. Hi Jeremy and thanks for your comment. I’ve not seen “Lost Horizon,” or “Tokyo Story,” but I’ve looked them up and they sound pretty interesting…I will make it my business to view these. “Horse Feathers,” I think everyone loves, I’ve never laughed harder! But how could you not with the Marx Brothers!

    Good choices!
